The TUNDRA is a four place kit plane with performance levels that put it easily in the STOL aircraft category (Short Takeoff and Landing) with a useful load comparable to bigger airplanes in the Cessna Skylane category. This airplane kit allows you to build an aircraft which will carry four adults, their luggage and enough fuel for a trip of several hours, even in floatplane configuration. This experimental aircraft is a true four place airplane.
With the looks and capabilities of a bush plane, the TUNDRA is offered in either a tail dragger or a tricycle gear configuration.
THE TUNDRA APPROACH - From conception to production
At DreamAircraft, the development of our airplane kits, from conception to production, is done exclusively on our highly sophisticated and technologically advanced equipment. The use of the latest in 3D drawing software, and CNC equipment, allows us to attain an impressive level of precision and production regularity.
It is the use of this equipment that makes it possible for Dream Aircraft to create a kit airplane that does not require building, but requires assembly only! It is somewhat similar to a Mecano toy for adults. All the cutting of shapes and punching of holes is done on our CNC punch press.
The next step is the bending and shaping of the parts on our computerized 220 ton, 8 axis hydraulic press. Every single part, whether it be rib, spar, skin, bulkhead, or stiffener, is pre-punched, pre-cut and pre-bent using our state of the art equipment.
It is important to note that right from the start, the conception and creation of the TUNDRA kitplane was guided by the goals of instilling three qualities in the product: ruggedness, ease of assembly and durability.
These same objectives also convinced DreamAircraft to insist on the use of the same type of solid rivets that are used by certified airplane manufacturers such as Cessna, Piper, Beechcraft and others. In addition, many problem areas identified on other experimental airplanes were re-enforced and the use of steel parts was also included to ensure the ruggedness and strength of all critical areas.
For all these reasons, the TUNDRA is considered to be one of the best kit planes in its' category with an impressive quality to price ratio. As a matter of fact, Dream Aircraft's TUNDRA received a prestigious award from Kitplanes magazine.
